Extreme Handcrafted Award - 2010
Steve Chadwick - Thunder Ranch
Say's
Tom McBurnie of his creation of a monster...
"This
car is a hand built one off creation
based on the one and only 1965
Cheetah Roadster driven by Augi Papst. This car
was created from scratch as if
Bill Thomas reincarnated it
with modern components
to use to create the lowest, badest, Chevy powered car
to go prowling for errant
Cobras!
The suspension is C4 Corvette front and rear
Wilwood brakes 13" dia with six
piston front and two piston rear. The body is
sectioned 2", lengthened" and
widened 8" with a DOT windshield and alloy frame. The
hood bubble was necessary
because on the sectioned body and high rise manifold.
Also alloy louvers were
sculpted into the hood over the headers for obvious
reasons. The wheels are
10 1/2 front 12 1/2 rear. Custom front
spoiler.
The mechanicals beside suspension and brakes are awesome
too. Fully
triangulated
space frame, NASCAR style
sway bars, full belly pan,
collapsible steering column, "0" buumpsteer
woodward steering rack, an
actual driveshaft (original had none). This car is flat
amazing."

Our 3 man judging crew
made up of Lead Judge Mike Dresbach, Elliot Smith and
Curt Scott. Thanks Gang for the time.
Congratulations
to Steve on
a great example of what can be done and to Tom McBurnie
and the team at Thunder Ranch for the design and
execution of a dream.
